lately, i've been asked how my blog is going. well, ummmmmmmm.... this has been at a standstill mostly because i've been focusing on other projects. but, fear not, as i have hopes and goals for more consistent writing here in the future. thanks for your support, dear readers.

new music sunday

sometimes in new music sunday, the music or song is new to me but not necessarily new to the rest of the world. some good pals and i went to see gillian welch and dave rawlings at the moore last week and were blown a-way. nothing like two encores and a killer jefferson airplane cover to rev you up for the night.

i was introduced this winter to time (the revelator) and loved it from the get-go. so, when i heard look at miss ohio at the show i fell in love. instantly. what gal can't relate to "wanting to do right but not right now" ? 
most of us, i do believe...

saturday lunch

quiet saturday today as the little miss was with her dad. went to the georgetown farmers market and
had a delightful lunch of green chile and cheese tamales with grilled zucchini, beet, onion, cabbage and carrot. a reflective and peaceful day.

a favorite of mine

if you're in the seattle area in august, i HIGHLY recommend hitting the shows at the seattle center mural amphetheater. the shows are free, little one friendly and you can bring a picnic! this year my pal grant is playing on august 12th so, it's definitely on the calendar.

new music sunday

i am kicking myself (ow!) that i didn't get to go to this show last month...a gal's gotta bring home the bacon after all.

at this time, i listen to this album constantly. it's a great change to listen to a strong female performer after fairly consistently listening to male musicians. she's so bad ass...such a powerful force!

this song has been in my soundtrack for the last few days. the first time i heard it was the cover version by feist and ben gibbard on the dark was the night album. man, can i relate. and, after all isn't that what makes a song sing in your heart? that powerful moment of connection. wow.

mood board-june

(in addition to visual inspiration, i'm wanting to add a concept to the mood board feature, it's kind of a subject/word that i'm devoting meditational time towards.

compassion. i generally have a decent amount of compassion towards others, but frequently little towards myself. june, for me, is about having compassion for myself and going easy on me. because i'm my worst critic, always, always and well, i think there's something to be said for doing things differently if you want to see some real change in your life. so, i'm starting with that.
