new music sunday

sometimes in new music sunday, the music or song is new to me but not necessarily new to the rest of the world. some good pals and i went to see gillian welch and dave rawlings at the moore last week and were blown a-way. nothing like two encores and a killer jefferson airplane cover to rev you up for the night.

i was introduced this winter to time (the revelator) and loved it from the get-go. so, when i heard look at miss ohio at the show i fell in love. instantly. what gal can't relate to "wanting to do right but not right now" ? 
most of us, i do believe...

i am kicking myself (ow!) that i didn't get to go to this show last month...a gal's gotta bring home the bacon after all.

at this time, i listen to this album constantly. it's a great change to listen to a strong female performer after fairly consistently listening to male musicians. she's so bad ass...such a powerful force!

i admit it. i can be a music snob. (ouch) so, for example, when something is getting a lot of press and wildly mainstream popular, i tend to not even go there and have a listen. case in point is the recent sophomore release from adele. when my friend mary included a track from her on a recent gifted mix, i started shaking things that haven't been shook in some time. i was channeling my inner daisy and lettin' it all loose.
so, i have shelved the pessimistic music critic in me for the time being and am listening to all things good...(it is popular for a reason, lady...sheesh.)

oh boy, oh boy, oh boy...here's a doozy . can you believe i just said "doozy" ? what am i seventy-five?
ha! anyways, i hope you enjoy this video as much as i do. im geeking out over it big time. the claps? the woodwinds? the shaky video footage? so charming and moving. man am i excited to go and see these fellas with my best pals to this next month.

and how about me being consistent with a feature for three weeks in a row? huh? huh? i'm turning over a new leaf and her name is follow-through.

yeah, yeah, i know, i know. i have a little trouble with follow-through. always have.
but it's a new year, so, i believe i am up for the challenge.

i was in my car driving around town the other day listening to these boys and decided that they must be shared as they are so special. nothing like an upright bass. and how sweet is this recording in a botanical greenhouse? darling.
